HISTORY

HISTORY

Our Story

CMS (Central Manufacturing Services)

CMS was founded in 1969 by Charles E. Clark and son James E. Clark (“Big Jim”), to provide warehousing and inventory services for a key client. For over 35 years, CMS enjoyed a successful partnership with Continental Can, allowing the business to grow and become a well-established entity in Three Rivers, Michigan. However, in 1996, when Continental Can’s employees went on strike, the company pulled the contract from CMS just a week later, forcing CMS to step out of its comfort zone.

Jamie Clark, the son of James E. Clark, had grown up immersed in the family business. After attending school and gaining experience in corporate America, Jamie viewed the situation with Continental Can and CMS not as a setback, but as an opportunity. He saw this as the chance to evolve and expand CMS into a larger business with a more diverse customer base.

1996 marked a pivotal year of transformation for CMS. It was the turning point that propelled the company from good to great. Jamie Clark teamed up with his father, bringing a fresh, motivated perspective to the business. Eager to forge new relationships within the community and the business world, Jamie and his father blended wisdom with ambition. Together, they pushed CMS to grow beyond its established comfort zone and set the stage for an even brighter future.

CLARK LOGIC

Jamie launched iTrailer in 2009, founded CMS Green in 2011, and acquired J&L Xpress in 2013. In 2015, Clark Logic was born to bring the company’s services and business offerings under one flagship.

In addition to greatly expanding its real estate and development portfolio, Clark Logic acquired Total Transportation Systems, Team Manufacturing and Supply (2019), P&P Transportation Services (2022), Short Transit (2022), Lindsey Dedicated Services (LDS) (2024), and Midwest Realty Group (2024).
